National Quick-Service Franchise Builds Global Presence as Demand for Healthy Alternatives in the Quick-Service Space Continues to Rise; Plans to Open Five Locations in Next Five Years

DAVIE, Fla. (August 24, 2016) – Froots, a national quick-service franchise focused on healthy food and beverages, announced today the brand’s expansion to Guatemala through a Master Franchise Agreement with Cristina Rozas, Juan Manuel Rodriguez, Alejandro Garcia and Maria Jose Enriquez. The business partners will be responsible for spearheading development of the brand throughout the country, opening a total of five locations over the next five years.

“A large, growing segment of the global population is more health conscious and aware of better eating habits, though have few choices when it comes to eating healthy on the go. Froots caters to this demographic by providing a healthy alternative to traditional fast food fare, and our growth is building as more investors look to enter this space with a proven business model in hand,” said Scott Mortier, EVP of Business Development at Froots. “We have several international locations already in operation that are well loved by their local communities, and I’m confident Guatemalans will enjoy our better-for-you menu options.”

The group’s first Froots location will be in Guatemala City. They learned about the brand when visiting South Florida and thought it would be a perfect addition to the Guatemalan quick-service scene. Froots already has several locations throughout the Caribbean and South America, including stores in the Dominican Republic, Honduras, Mexico, Panama and Turks & Caicos.

“We were immediately drawn in by the food that was both delicious and healthy,” Rozas said, adding that she knew Guatemala would be the perfect market for the brand. “Beyond the food and drinks, the new look and feel of the locations is very crisp, clean and refreshing. The company just rolled out a new store design, logo and menu, so we are excited to be one of the first franchisees to debut the new look and menu items.”

Froots seeks master franchise developers to continue developing the brand internationally as well as domestically in the United States, where Froots is eyeing the Southeastern part of the country for aggressive expansion over the next two years with an additional 50 units. Domestically, the fast-growing franchise also seeks multi-unit operators and owner-operators to bring the brand to new markets.

Froots has both store front and kiosk business models available with costs respectively ranging from $140,150-$321,750 and $92,600-$157,600, including the $25,000 franchise fee. Prospective owners can also purchase three units for a total franchise fee of $40,000. Interested franchisees should contact Scott Mortier at [email protected] or visit http://froots.com/franchise/ for more information.

National QSR Franchise Debuts New Look on Fox & Friends; Announces Plans for New Branding, an Improved In-Store Customer Experience and a Completely Revamped Menu

DAVIE, Fla. (May 5, 2016)Froots has announced plans to completely revamp the company’s branding, look and feel of the locations and menu offerings.

The new logo, branding and store décor aligns with what Froots is known for: healthy food and beverage options that are delicious and made from fresh, simple ingredients. The company debuted its new look during a May 5 segment on Fox News Channel’s Fox & Friends, during its regular “On The Job Hunt” segment that featured Froots among three other businesses that are growing and creating jobs. The segment can be viewed online at: http://tinyurl.com/FrootsFoxAndFriends.

Froots will be unveiling the enhanced store interior at the location currently under development in Tavernier, Fla., which is slated to open in August 2016. Meanwhile, the national quick-service franchise continues testing new menu items as part of a completely new menu that will be rolled out this August. Both the refreshed look and new menu will be implemented in all locations not yet under construction.

“When I sat back in the driver’s seat of Froots, I vowed that we would be making the right changes to the brand that will drive traffic at the store level and aid in our goal of becoming the leading healthy food destination in the quick-service space. And, our rebranding and new menu offerings are some of the initial pieces we will be implementing to make Froots even better for consumers and our franchisees,” said David Lopez, who founded Froots in 2001 and recently re-entered the brand as CEO.

He added, “Our existing units are all doing well and growing as consumers continue to lead healthier lifestyles and seek better-for-you options in a quick-service setting. While this is the case, we know we can deliver a better menu that is true to our brand but offers an improved product to customers, and I think our new menu achieves this.”

For the new menu, Froots focused on fresh, simple ingredients with an emphasis on flavor combinations. These new flavor profiles were created by combining fresh cut vegetables and herbs with tasty sauces and meats for a variety of wraps, paninis and salads. Each sandwich item is also carefully crafted so that each bite brings out bursts of flavor. Some examples include the Turkey Kale Wrap, which is made with provolone, turkey, kale, tomato and pesto lime mayo, and the Pulled BBQ Chicken that houses smoked gouda, pulled chicken, red onion, cilantro, ranch and BBQ sauce in one tasty panini.

Today, Froots has more than 30 U.S. units as well as several international locations, and expects to add 50 restaurants in the next two years. Ideal franchisees are owner-operators, but do not need prior restaurant experience due to the company’s extensive training program and resources. The streamlined Froots franchise program provides franchisees support from the day the franchise agreement is signed through site selection, construction, training and creating a comprehensive marketing plan that is designed to keep customers returning for years to come.

Froots Opens New Location in Florida

New Restaurant, Froots Shakes and Juices up Kendall
New Kendall-Miami Area Quick-Service Restaurant Provides a Healthy Alternative to Traditional Fast Food Fare

MIAMI, FLORIDA (February 15, 2016) – Kendall-area residents will soon have a healthy haven to escape from the mundane, traditional fast food options, thanks to local entrepreneur Evellyn Morales. She is opening a new Froots location this February at 13909 SW 88th St in Miami.

The restaurant offers a variety of great tasting menu options that cater to a large, growing segment of the U.S. population that is more health conscious and aware of better eating habits. Its menu includes all-natural smoothies, energy shakes, fresh-squeezed juices, sandwiches, wraps, paninis, salads, soups and more.

“For most, everyday life is increasingly becoming busier and more chaotic – making it challenging to make the right diet choices, especially if you’re always on the go and eating away from home,” said Evellyn. “At Froots, customers can get the right fuel they need to get through the day and keep their commitment to staying healthy – without sacrificing any flavor. Plus, our menu is made-to-order so we can cater to many dietary or allergy restrictions.”

Evellyn’s new business is part of a national franchise system that has more than 30 locations nationwide as well as several international units. Originally from Venezuela, she has been visiting the Miami area for over twenty years and noticed Froots on a recent visit. She knew it would be the perfect addition to the Kendall community and moved to the United States to open the restaurant. Evellyn is a dentist by trade and has owned a successful dental practice in Venezuela for over five years.

Over the next two years, Froots expects to add 50 restaurants. Entrepreneurs appreciate that Froots meets two popular demands in the quick service industry by catering to consumers who are increasingly looking for healthier food choices and the booming Juice and smoothie bar market. Currently worth $2 billion in the U.S and with a 2.9 percent increase in annual growth since 2010, the juice and smoothie bar offering has proven it’s more than just a fad. Additionally, as a relatively low investment for a restaurant franchise and the growth of the sector, Froots is an easy decision for potential investors.

For more information about Froots, visit http://froots.com/ or contact the new Kendall location at (786) 773-2484.

David Lopez & Scott Mortier of Froots and Lambros Kokkinelis & David Kurlander of Gyroville

Form F & G Development Group to Enhance Operations and Franchise Development Efforts

DAVIE, Fla. (January 7, 2016) – Executives from two popular, Florida-based, healthy food destinations are teaming to form a mutually beneficial partnership. In an effort to drive growth of both brands, the agreement allows each company’s area of expertise to benefit the other’s franchise system.

Froots Founder & President David Lopez and EVP of Business Development Scott Mortier are forming F & G Development Group with Gyroville Founder & CEO Lambros Kokkinelis and COO David Kurlander to focus on operational and development strategies that will heighten both brands. As part of the new partnership, Kokkinelis and Kurlander will collaborate to enhance store operations of Froots, while Lopez and Mortier will spearhead Gyroville franchise development efforts.

“This partnership allows us to focus on what we do best – grow franchise brands,” Mortier said. “As Froots enters its next stage of growth, David and I are taking a more active role in expanding the brand. As part of our strategy, we’re bringing in highly-experienced operators that can further develop the menu and operational systems that benefit our franchise community. Lambros and David have incredible backgrounds in restaurant operations. I’m confident that bringing in their expertise will drive efficiencies and establish the systems we need to continue expansion.”

Both graduates of the renowned Culinary Institute of America in New York, Kokkinelis and Kurlander bring a combined 40 years of culinary experience working in a variety of restaurant concepts, including fast-casual and casual dining. Kokkinelis has been the owner and operator of three Moonlite Diner locations in South Florida since 2004. In 2010, he recognized that consumers were increasingly seeking healthier options in a fast-casual setting and responded to this trend by creating Gyroville, which has since grown to nine locations. Kurlander was an integral part of Gyroville’s development from the beginning; he created and implemented the restaurant’s efficient systems that helped structure food costs, purchasing and day-to-day operations. Prior to joining Gyroville, Kurlander was the Director of Operations for Urban Life Restaurant Group from 2005-2010, where he oversaw day-to-day operations for Moonlite Diner locations in South Florida.

“We’ve spent the past year developing our branding and systems for franchising – we just needed someone to drive it,” said Kokkinelis. “David and Scott have already established successful franchise systems, and have the infrastructure in place that will help us grow at the right pace. Both of our concepts offer fresh, healthy food options so this was an excellent synergy of everyone’s expertise.” Lopez and Mortier have a combined 35-plus years in franchise sales. A young, serial entrepreneur who is a partner in more than 45 companies, Lopez founded Froots in 2001 and began franchising the concept in 2004. In 2009, he created Dental Fix Rx, a mobile dental equipment repair service franchise, which has quickly grown to more than 200 franchises. In the same year, Mortier joined Lopez’s team; his expertise has been a vital component of the brands’ franchise expansion. Along with other investors, Lopez and Mortier recently acquired a stake in Tikiz Shaved Ice & Ice Cream—a fast-growing mobile franchise—and have signed six new franchises within the past three months.
